Break Through Your Walls
“Two years later his company is now selling nearly $100 million dollars worth of his product!”
This past weekend I attended the USC Entrepreneur Networking Day on the campus of my alma-mater. It’s one of my favorite days because I get to see friends, make new ones and hear great stories from other entrepreneurs. One of the highlights each year is when someone tells us about how they came close to failure and/or faced a decision to keep going when they were down to their last dime.
As one person related, in 2006 he came to a point where his product wasn’t selling, he only had $1,000 left in his bank account and his family and friends were telling him to go get a job. But he had something else in his possession: unwavering conviction that his idea, his passion and his effort could payoff if he just kept trying. Two years later his company is now selling nearly $100 million dollars worth of his product!
While not all of us have the next $100 million idea, we all periodically face the point of stopping or breaking through. Whether it’s in our business, our relationships, our physical fitness or any number of other goals, it is natural to hit plateaus and walls that are seemingly unbreakable. The difference between breaking through and giving up is the act of doing. I remind myself constantly that success is more about persistency, determination and taking action than the genius of any one idea.
